Symbolism

          I create running narratives with various symbols: arrows, keys, hearts, exclamation marks, etc.  It is an exciting process to bring new and enhanced meaning to age-old symbols through juxtaposition, color-manipulation, and other modifications. 
          Listening to various interpretations of my work is a great joy.  We can learn a lot about ourselves by being aware of the meanings we cast on symbols.  Take notice of the symbols that you bring into your life.  Do they inspire you?  Do they comfort you?  Do they define you?

                 The Plenty Series

          The Plenty Series is a reaction to the hyper-materialistic consumerism that runs rampant today. The capitalistic machine thrives by creating "needs". It wants you to believe that you "need" that shiny new car or media-center cell phone to be fulfilled. I am not against technology and progress. I just do not agree with the notion that you have to have a large amount of money and superficial objects to be happy. So, with these paintings, I celebrate essentially free modes of creating true fulfillment in everyday life. You really don't have to have lots of money to have Plenty.
